MonTech Presentation Topic: Practical RPA Tests for Production Quality Control and Compound Development
The Rubber Process Analyzer (RPA) has become an integral part of modern elastomer processing control and compound development. With a broad range of strain/frequency and temperature/pressure combinations, the RPA is a highly versatile tool for executing dynamic tests that reveal the consistency of incoming polymers, modeling process performance of compounds, and predicting field performance of finished products.
These dynamic tests are easily implemented and can quickly reveal material properties that are useful to manufacturers of compounds and finished elastomer products. These properties can be measured for actionable quality control metrics and performance predictions for almost any type of elastomer component, in any application, including the oil and gas industry. This presentation will outline several of the most common RPA dynamic tests in use today, and describe the purpose, setup and execution of these tests, along with a practical analysis of the results.
